Systematically assesses REST, GraphQL, and gRPC API endpoints against the OWASP API Security Top 10 (2023) using Burp Suite and Postman for automated and manual testing. Use during authorized API penetration tests, before deploying new endpoints to production, or when validating API gateway controls and rate limiting.

No individual findings recorded

The inconclusive verdict rests on the open questions and coverage gaps below; 1 candidate finding was refuted on review.

Open questions 1

What the analysis could not settle from the code alone.

[file request skills/testing-api-security-with-owasp-top-10/scripts/agent.py] The decoded unit shows docstrings/comments for API1, API2, API3, mass-assignment, API8, CORS, and API9 tests across lines 1-180, but executable code was served only for lines 113-178; show the functions in lines 15-112 and state whether any read credentials, tokens, or files, contact hosts other than the caller-supplied base_url, execute subprocesses, or write outside the working directory.

Privilege escalation

mediumRefutedmedium confidence

The agent's request functions disable TLS certificate verification whenever the SKIP_TLS_VERIFY environment variable is set (with matching urllib3 warning suppression), so any request carrying the bearer token to the target API can be intercepted by a man-in-the-middle when that flag is enabled.

verify=not os.environ.get(
Why it was refuted

The TLS-verify skip is an operator opt-in that defaults to verification enabled and is documented inline at every call site as a lab-environment convenience for the skill's declared authorized-API-penetration-testing capability, which is the standard pen-test tooling carve-out (equivalent to curl -k / Burp's ignore-cert option), not a concealed weakening. No chain exists either: the artifact never instructs the agent to set the flag and never routes the bearer token anywhere except the operator-supplied target, so the claimed MITM/PRIVESC harm requires both deliberate operator opt-in and an external active attacker.
